MTB Trails in 2011.

The year is almost at an end. Wade and I are happy with the postive response we’ve had with the guide book. Thanks for all your support!

As our way of giving back to the community we have provided grants to trail builders working on the North Shore trails. As many of you know this network would not be what it is without the dedicated builders who go out on their own to work on their own trails as begets their passion. While official groups cannot support them, we feel that their contibution cannot go wthout thanks.

So to those working on Cypress, Seymour and Fromme, to those providing direction to riders who may not know where they are we thank you.

We provided grants to 5 groups all of whom prefer to remain under the radar so obviously pseudonyms are used.

- Aftertaste Crew
- BMB
- TheGiggler
- TheTrailFairies

Also we have been doing some of our own work on the new connector trail Greenland.

This trail came into its own two years ago. Previously it was a fine green line that was overgrown and disused. We discovered it and started working on it to create a nicer xc line to Bottletop and its now an alternate to the Neds chunder to swamp route.

We’ve also been working with other builders and maintainers to decommission certain sensitive trails for winter. Sometimes (but not all the time) we’ve left signs there explaining why we’re doing this. If its not obvious, some lines don’t handle wet-weather riding well at all. For the late fall, winter and early spring months we deactivate these trails. Note that everytime we do this we’re either the builder of those trails or work with the builder of those trails. Please feel free to email us about a closure if you have questions. Please do respect the closure as a gesture to the builders.

Perhaps we are old-fashioned but we do feel communication and respect is important. Thanks!

We will also be holding our draw for Accommodations at Lynn Valley Bed and Breakfast open to anyone who buys a book from our site until Jan 15th!

Don’t forget the Locals’ Guide Book or Waterproof Map would make a great Christmas Present!

Executioner is an old school fall line trail. Bitches Brew is a classic old school trail that had some structures that were falling apart.

The DNV work crew rerouted some fall line sections of Executioner and joined it to Bitches Brew. They removed the decrepid stunts, rebuilt two bridges, rerouted some sections to offer a great option to ride down to Dreamweaver or to the Baden Powell.

Thanks Guys!
